From Tragedy to Hope: The Story Behind MyRealFairies

In 2022, just before our daughter Indy’s fifth birthday, our world changed in an instant.

Indy had a sudden, massive seizure, completely out of the blue. As the days unfolded, we received the devastating diagnosis: a rare brain condition that caused her to have up to 50 seizures a day. Our lives became a blur of hospital stays, medical jargon, and holding ourselves together for both Indy and her little brother.

In the midst of that darkness, we found a small light.

During those long, difficult months, we found comfort in the most unexpected way. We started writing little notes and leaving them near her hospital bed – messages from a magical fairy who had “visited” while she slept. The fairy told her why she was having the “squiggles” (our gentle word for her seizures), and reminded her how strong, brave, and loved she was.

And she believed.

Indy looked forward to those fairy visits. They became her bright spot in the middle of uncertainty. Over time, they shifted her focus from fear to hope – and helped all of us find strength we didn’t know we had.

That’s how MyRealFairies was born.

What began as a way to bring light into our daughter’s darkest days has grown into something much bigger, a way to help children everywhere feel uplifted, empowered, and never alone.

Through magical fairy companions, hands-on creative activities, and personal messages of encouragement. MyRealFairies brings comfort and imagination into everyday life, even in the hardest moments.

Thanks to the extraordinary teams at Evelina and Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospitals, Indy received the brain surgery that saved her life. We’re still healing, still growing, but hope and joy have returned to our home.

We’ll never forget what it was like to sit by her bed, watching her fight, surrounded by so many other children and families facing battles of their own. That’s why we made a promise:

For every fairy companion purchased, we donate ‘Valorin’ our Care Fairy to a child in hospital. It's our way of paying forward the magic that carried us through.

MyRealFairies is not just a business. It’s our family’s love letter to resilience, to childhood wonder, and to the quiet, powerful magic of believing in something beautiful – especially when life feels anything but.
